The short version
This site does not use Google Analytics, advertising cookies or any tracking of our own. The only cookies that can appear are set by YouTube and SoundCloud, and only when you choose to play a video or track embedded on a release page.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files a website can store on your device to remember information between visits, or to let embedded content from other services work correctly. Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) and EU law (the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR), a site needs your permission before it sets any cookie that is not strictly necessary for the site to function.
Strictly necessary
This site itself does not set any cookies. Your choice on the cookie banner (accept or reject) is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie, so nothing is stored until you make a choice.
Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may occasionally set a short-lived,
strictly necessary cookie (for example cf_clearance) if it needs to verify
that a visit is not automated traffic. This is exempt from consent requirements under both
UK PECR and EU ePrivacy rules, as it exists solely for security.
Third-party embedded content
Release pages on this site let you play music and video directly using embedded players from YouTube (Google) and SoundCloud. These players are never loaded automatically. Instead, you'll see a placeholder until you either accept cookies for the whole site using the banner, or click to load that specific player.
Once a player loads, YouTube or SoundCloud may set their own cookies, for example to remember playback preferences, or, if you're signed into a Google account, to personalise content and advertising. We don't control what these cookies do — you can read more in their own policies:
Managing your choice
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, which reopens the banner. You can also clear cookies and site data for darrenhodson.com through your browser's own settings.
